Chelsea fans apologize for leaving Drinkwater

Danny Drinkwater apologized to Chelsea fans as he went on a free transfer after five years of failure.

The £32m midfielder, 32, faded away as a key member of Leicester’s 2015–16 title-winning team after England won three caps.

He played just 23 times for Chelsea as injuries, poor form, drink-drive bans and other off-field issues affected his Stamford Bridge career.

He was loaned to Burnley, Aston Villa, Turkish side Kasimpasa and Reading.

And he wrote on Instagram: “My time at Chelsea It’s finished… It feels really weird to actually write this. I, the club and the fans are extremely disappointed with the result, no doubt about it.

‘Injuries, how I was treated, mistakes I’ve made, pitch issues, lack of playing time… the list of excuses can be endless but I can’t and won’t change what’s happened.

“I’m going to look at the positives over the past five years, I’ve played with great players, been coached by awesome managers, worked with some great staff, met some great people, lived in some beautiful places. , have traveled the world and live some more silverware.

‘Football is a great game, but it was a commercial move for both sides that went wrong, it’s just as black and white.

“To Chelsea fans I’m sorry for how it turned out, I want you to do your best in the shirt I love. All the best ex.”
