Nottingham Forest defeated Sheffield United via a thrilling penalty shootout to advance to the Championship Play-off Final.
But the victory turned sour following a shocking attack by a fan on Blades star Billy Sharpe in an attack on the pitch after the match.
Sky Sports video caught a man running at full speed on a Sharp before slamming it to the floor.
United boss Paul Heckingbottom was furious and insisted the attacker be jailed for his horrific actions.
One also issued a statement condemning the shameful attack and offered a sharp apology.
It was later learned that Sharp had to get stitches after this horrific incident.
Police moved quickly after the attack and announced that they had arrested a 31-year-old man following an attack on the Sheffield United captain.
Sharp broke his silence on the incident this morning and tweeted: “This morning Sharp tweeted: “A mindless idiot ruined an incredible night of football.”
He also said: “Congratulations to Nottingham Forest on their win and the best of luck in the final. As a former Forest player I will not let that spoil my respect for Forest fans.
Pitch attack could have dire consequences for championship clubs next season as the EFL revealed that games could be played behind closed doors in the upcoming campaign.
If they make it for the love it could also have harsh implications for Attack One as it is revealed that they may have to play their first game in the league behind closed doors.
However, One fans have banded together to raise cash in support of Billy Sharp.
A group called A Just Giving Page was launched; “To show our condemnation as Forest fans.”
So far, One Collective has pulled in £2,600, and the money will go to a charity of Sharp’s choice.
