Releases water after five barren years
Danny Drinkwater has eventually left Chelsea and has described his time with the club as “a business move gone wrong”.
The midfielder has played just 23 times for the Blues since his 2017 move, with his last competitive match in the 2018 Community Shield.
And in a farewell posted to his Instagram account, Drinkwater, 32, described his turbulent time in West London.
He wrote: “My time Chelsea It’s finished… It feels really weird to actually write this.
“I, the club and the fans are extremely disappointed with the result, no doubt about it.
“Injuries, how I’ve been treated, mistakes I’ve made, pitch issues, lack of playing time…
“Football is a great game but it was a commercial move for both sides that went wrong, it’s just as black and white.
“To the fans of Chelsea I apologize for how it turned out, I want you to do your best in the shirt I love. All the best.”
