Greene King axes 6p pints plan and is giving them out for FREE instead

Green King has scrapped plans to sell 6p pints to celebrate the Queen’s birth anniversary – and will give them away for free instead.

The pub chain announced this morning that it will be offering Pins for just one penny for one day only on Monday, May 30.

It said customers could get a pint for saI cost it in 1952, when Rani Took the throne first.

But now it will be offering liquor for free because it is not allowed to sell a pint at this price under the licensing laws.

A Green King spokesperson said: “We will now offer our first pint of Jubilee of Green King IPA for free today, as we now understand that charging 6p is not permitted under the Licensing Act.”

Patrons can get a pint of Green King IPA at one of the group’s 408 local pubs or Fleming Grill sites.
