Said to be haunted by its military history, the stately home is up for sale for only the third time in 300 years.

Built in 1710, Hinwick House was built to look like Buckingham Palace at the time, giving the house its royal nickname.

‘Little Buckingham Palace’ has 50 rooms, including 12 bedrooms and six bathrooms, as well as seven underground cellars and two staff flats.

The grand residence is set on 37 acres of grounds, and features a Georgian walled garden, an orchard, two lakes, a paddock, and woodland.

The main house, Queen Anne House, is the ‘Victorian Wing’ along with a Victorian wing extension.

The sale will also come with outbuildings on the estate including garages, stables, stores and an 18th-century clock tower.

The new owners will also get three additional cottages on the land.

This house, used as a school in the 1880s, became haunted after being used as a hospital for wounded soldiers in 1914.

Since then, the four soldiers killed on the property roam the grounds as ghosts – or so the story goes.

If the frightening backdrop doesn’t distract you, the home’s ideal location in Wellingborough is just 90 minutes from central London – providing the full package of a country lifestyle within touching distance of the nation’s capital.

In 2014, Hinwick House underwent a £3.8 million restoration, and the listing states that the opulent property “is now returned to its former glory as a luxurious family home.”
