“But sometimes adopting new methods can save you money and be beneficial.
“By far the most expensive items in your home are ‘wet’ appliances – such as washing machines, tumble dryers and dishwashers.
“The last two you can skip altogether.”
Martin also recommends only using the washing machine with the load fully loaded and pressing the Echo button.
He continued: “The fridge and freezer are the next worst offenders.
“I don’t like to say it, but microwaves are a lot cheaper than cookers.”
