Stock Market Today- 2/11: Dow Ends Down 500 Points as Fears of Russian Attack on Ukraine Rattle Markets

Updated at 4:19 pm EST

Stocks finished sharply lower Friday, dragged down by inflation fears and as concern over a Russian attack on Ukraine sent oil prices surging.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended down 503 points, or 1.43%, to 34,738, while the broader S&P 500 declined 1.9%, and the Nasdaq Composite lost 2.78%.

On Friday afternoon, U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said at a White House briefing that there were signs of Russian escalation at the Ukraine border and that it was possible that an invasion could take place during the Olympics, despite speculation to the contrary, CNBC reported.
