The 33 states that boost SSI benefits by up to $120 as July payments worth $841 are sent out in TWO days

Nearly eight million Americans are set to receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments of at least $841 this week.

For many, this is still not enough to pay for basic necessities, but some may get a boost as most states supplement checks.

You may get more if you live in a state that adds money to federal SSI payments.

But you can get less if the following reasons apply:

  • Receive other income such as wages, pensions, or Social Security benefits.
  • Someone pays your household expenses or if you live with a spouse and have an income.

Generally, you must be a US citizen or a US citizen to be eligible for SSI.

You must also live in one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, or the Northern Mariana Islands.

Exceptions to this are children of military parents who have been assigned to permanent duty outside the US and some students who are temporarily abroad who may receive SSI payments outside the US.

SSI state supplements are typically paid at the same time as federal benefits, meaning they must come first in most months.

Beneficiaries who typically receive a paper check should expect their payment to arrive by the fourth day of the month.

If you receive both SSI and Social Security, your payments will not arrive on the same date.

While SSI is paid on the 1st of each month, Social Security is paid on the 3rd of each month for those claimants.
