Millions of claimants on Universal Credit and other benefits are set to receive their first payment of their cost of living within weeks.
Today ministers are changing the law to put more cash into the bank accounts of poor Britons to help ease the pinch.
When will the cash come?
People will get the first installment of £326 bank accounts on 14 July.

Ministers have made payments a bit uneven in order to reduce the risk of fraud from “those who may try to take advantage of this system”.
In total, millions of Britons are set to receive at least £1,200 from the government this year to help cover rising costs.

Will this affect profits?
The cost of living payment will be tax-free, the benefit limit will not be counted, and there will be no impact on existing benefit awards.
Therese Coffey, head of DWP, said: “With millions of low-income families soon seeing the first of two cash installments into their bank accounts, we are taking action to directly help families with their cost of living Huh.”
